An afternoon at the fete

St leonards in Exeter had their summer fete this weekend. I popped along to meet friends who live there  in the hope that there would be a Devonshire cream tea!! There was… Phew!! I had been teaching all morning and not had time for lunch so figured that the cream tea would be my naughty lunch compromise!

I met up with Emma and Ben with their little baby Eva and pooch Flossie. We had a walk around taking in the sights. It was a traditional affair with a coconut shy, tombola, vintage cars, candy floss and a tea tent! I love a good old fashioned fete! A real British institution.

We chatted about their wedding last weekend and their trip to Cornwall for their honeymoon over ice creams ( for them ) and a cream tea for me! Just what the doctor ordered!! It was lovely to catch up with them after their big day and talk through all the high points. ( It was such a lovely wedding. )

We stayed for about an hour and a half in the sunshine chin wagging over our treats!

It’s always nice to support the local community in this way. I hope they manage to raise plenty of funds. I am on the look out for the next fete now.. It’s just so nice being out in the summer sun.
