The sun has finally come back out after a long and dreary winter. Yes, it may still only be the end of February but spring really does feel like it’s on the way. There is actual warmth in the sun when you dodge the shadows and the days are beginning to draw out. So, thisRead more

Happy Saturday friends. I thought I would share with you my version of Beetroot Borscht that I made for my bubble lunch date last Sunday. For those of you that have never heard of borscht before, think of it as an Eastern European minestrone. A hearty soup that uses odds and ends of vegetables inRead more

I know it’s probably the coldest week of the year so far but that doesn’t stop me wanting ice cream for dessert. Plus, it’s the prettiest pud and might be an ideal Valentine’s Day sweet treat this weekend. You could whip up a batch on Saturday evening for it to be ready in time forRead more

Rose & Chocolate Macaroons

5th February 20215th February 2021 - tara 1 Comment

This recipe has been on the cards at Tara’s Busy Kitchen HQ for a while in all honesty. I purchased the desiccated coconut long before Christmas but just didn’t have the time to make a batch what with everything else going on. I suppose on top of that our house was already full of festiveRead more

It’s that time of year that calls for comfort food. It’s cold, it’s grey and on the most part pretty soggy outside. So I reach for gentle spices and recipes that make me feel warm from the inside out and incredibly satisfied. Food that feels like a big hug from your Nanna, do you knowRead more

It’s been a funny old week here. Firstly, I have been on my own as Steve has been working away. Don’t panic! It’s all within the Covid laws – testing and a work bubble has been created. Professional musicians are allowed to rehearse which has meant that for the whole week I have been atRead more

I don’t know about you but I eat peanut butter every day in some form. Be it spooned onto my morning porridge, whizzed into a smoothie, whipped into frosting, or simply on some toasted sourdough after I finish my online ballet classes. For me it provides comfort plus it helps it’s darn delicious. It’s theRead more

I don’t know about you but when it’s cold outside I want to eat spicy food; something with a bit of zing and kick. This recipe has been on the back burner until now purely because I hadn’t received a cauliflower in my weekly organic veg box delivery but as soon as I saw theRead more

(Ad) I was recently sent some sausages from my friends at HECK. These aren’t any old sausages though. Of course, they are delicious, we know that, but these sausages are doing good at the same time. With each packet, purchased HECK are contributing to a very worthwhile campaign to combat homelessness. I wanted to highlightRead more

Gingerbread & Chocolate Chip American Style Cookies

5th December 20205th December 2020 - tara Leave a comment

It’s been a whole year since I found myself in New York and it got me thinking about all those yummy sweet treats that the Americans do so well. Yes, I love a crunchy English biscuit but sometimes a doughy, soft American style cookie is just what a girl (or boy) needs. Am I right?Read more

This sunny Saturday deserves celebrating with my N This sunny Saturday deserves celebrating with my No Churn Ice Cream Sandwiches. A delightfully retro looking sweet treat that will fill your heart with glee and your tummy with deliciousness. I mean, what’s not to love? It’s basically whipped double cream and condensed milk in between two biscuits! Grab yourselves the few ingredients in your next shop and get making. 💕

(AD) It’s five o clock somewhere right? Oh wait. (AD) It’s five o clock somewhere right? Oh wait.. this little aperativo is alcohol free so no worries there. @motherrootldn is a sophisticated, award winning, 100% natural and alcohol-free switchel. The recipe is based on a prohibition-era recipe but vamped up with a modern twist. I am currently hooked on Mother Root with pomegranate juice and lots of ice. Put that alongside a bowl of salt and vinegar and you’ve got yourself an awesome pre-dinner cocktail situation without the fuzzy head. That can come later! 😉
“We’re having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave”.. I can’t remember the other lyrics and by heatwave I mean it’s above 10 degrees! But, aforementioned heatwave requires ice cream sandwiches. Am I right? How do you fancy the recipe for no churn amaretti and raspberry ice cream sandwiches? Let me know! 💕
With dining in being the only option right now I d With dining in being the only option right now I decided to treat myself to some exquisite new table linen from @angela.mugnai.emporium - I have been coveting her designs for a couple of months now but was a bit slow off the mark before Christmas so missed out on ordering. I was thrilled to see in her new collection these delightful soft pink candy stripes. So, completely me. I love everything about them. The size, the weight.. in all honesty they are simply perfect. Roll on the weekend so I can maximise their usage. They came beautifully wrapped as you can see from my little video complete with some delicious heart shaped Italian chocolates. The fabrics used come from a fourth generation Italian family business that has been operating since 1919. Angela hand picks the most glorious designs for her collection and I have to say that if I was in the position to purchase every design I would. So, if you fancy taking your meal times up a notch whilst your favourite restaurants and bars are closed maybe take a browse of her latest ever growing collection. (Not an ad - I am just a fangirl)💗

So thankful for my beautiful umbrella on days like So thankful for my beautiful umbrella on days like this. The most perfect design by @jasminedowling for @bluntumbrellas 💛 In fact ever since I received it as a Christmas gift from my sister I have kind of been willing it to rain enough to warrant an outing. Well, today it’s raining enough so out it came. Isn’t it dreamy? 💛
AD - What do you do if you fancy an aperitif becau AD - What do you do if you fancy an aperitif because the sun is finally shining but it’s a “school” night? You reach for something that is going to give you that delightfully bitter hit but without the fuzzy head in the morning. I have to teach a stretch class at 8am tomorrow morning but fancy celebrating the fact that it’s half term and I don’t have to teach the kiddie-winks until 9pm on Zoom tonight. Ordinarily I would be in Cornwall in Feb half term but you know what, this year is not the norm. 🤷🏻‍♀️ That doesn’t change the fact they I still want to feel like I am on a bit of a holiday. That means that at 6pm I fancy a little pre dinner drinkie. I have recently discovered @motherrootldn ; a 100% natural, bold flavoured, alcohol-free aperitif described by one of my faves @ottolenghi as “beautiful”. Made with ginger juice, blossom honey, organic apple cider vinegar & a smidge of chilli it packs a flavour punch when mixed with soda or tonic, a round of citrus and a sprig of rosemary. It can also be revved up my mixing it into a Campari based cocktail or adding to a hot toddy on colder evenings. It’s super versatile and my bottle will be finished by the end of the week as I sample Mother Root in all its incarnations. Head on over to @motherrootldn for cocktail & mocktail recipes that will tickle your tastebuds.🍹
