I met up with my sisters on Sunday. You might have read my post ‘Sunday Funday’? We had a lovely lunch at The Hour Glass and then on The Glorious Art House for tea. My sisters took a few photos of us enjoying a chat and a cuppa. I wanted to include them. We had such a nice catch up.
On my day off I started with baking some of my lovely soda bread ( recipe on the blog ) in time for breakfast. I am an early bird as any one who knows me will tell you. I had the bread in the oven by 7.30am!!
After breakfast it was off to the farmers market for a little look see. I love going down there on my day off. So much to look at.
The aubergines were like beautiful jewels.. Who would have thought it would be warm enough in this country to produce such wonderful produce!!
After the market it was a quick trip home to unload our purchases and then back out to meet a friend with Steve for a walk in the sunshine around the quay and a stop off at The Welcome Cafe. One of the nicest family run cafes in town. It is situated right by the waterside. Inside is warm and cosy in the winter but on a day like today it was perfect courtyard weather. We ordered tea and cakes that we could all swap and share. They were amazing! A lemon curd roulade ( I tried a forkful but meringue isn’t really my thing.. Too sweet! ), a raspberry gateaux and an apple flan. The gateaux was to die for!! So delicious with the fresh cream and the tart raspberries. The apple flan had a frangipane sort of feel.. Served warm with ice cream = winner!!
This little green bug decided to join us for cake too!
I got together with some old and dear friends of mine over the week. We get together every third Thursday of the month. We have done it for years.. We have a little name for our get togethers… ‘Fun with Fodder’ or FWF for short. I have spoken about it on a previous blog. This particular ‘fodder’ night was held at Cat’s house. We normally have a theme.. Tonight’s theme was based around National vegetarian week! Cat made a lovely meal.. First course was fresh and zingy gazpacho with home baked cheese and olive twists.. Second course was spring vegetable frittata with a crunchy spiralzed beetroot and carrot salad and then it was all followed up with a yummy cheese board. I was so full after our feast. We always eat well and laugh alot!
