Tara’s Busy Kitchen Presents…

My week in pictures

I recently held my fourth Tara’s Busy Kitchen Presents Afternoon Tea event. A pop up tea room at my house styled to perfection with local delicacies to tickle your taste buds. I source all of my ingredients locally where possible and take great pleasure in preparing my menu and creating yummy goodies for my guests.

A selection of savouries followed by delicious buttermilk scones with Devonshire clotted cream and jam plus a selection of cakes and tarts all homemade in Tara’s Busy Kitchen. Presented on my ever growing collection of vintage china.

I will be hosting another party at the end of January/beginning of February so don’t hesitate to contact me through my contacts page if you would like to come and experience the event for yourself.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my suppliers for the event especially those who kindly donated lovely goodies for my goodie bags. My guests were treated to delicious flavoured coffees from Little’s Coffee, gluten free mince pies from Let Them Eat, the most amazing fruit cakes from Tipple Tails and yummy blueberry and lime jam from The Blueberry Brothers.

Gabriel Pyne, one of my guests sent me this lovely email and I thought I would share it with you.

One of the best afternoon teas I’ve had in a long time was from Tara’s Busy Kitchen. The tables were beautifully laid with vintage china. The food was truly delicious with all ingredients locally sourced. My particular favourites were the ploughman’s scones made with tastey Quicke’s cheese and the wonderful blueberry jam from Lustleigh. The sparkling wine from Sharpham and the tea from the Plymouth Tea Company were very moorish. I was amazed to learn that the honey came from Princesshay! We came home with a delightful “goody bag” containing more local produce. I feel lucky to live in such a great food producing area with great cooks!”

“Tara’s Christmas afternoon tea pop up was such a delightful way to spend a cold Sunday afternoon – I brought along a friend and we were warmly welcomed by the hostess herself, kept thoroughly topped up with (local) fizz. Everything, from the decorations (beautiful dried leaves foraged nearby), to the music (a Christmas mix) helped to create a festive atmosphere. Naturally, as a massive local food fan the printed menu was the perfect addition and extra helpful in helping identify which products went into making each delicious treat. A firm favourite on my table was the homemade Almond and Orange Cake, as well as the huge homemade scones. Both my friend and I left with full bellies and fantastic goodie bags; the contents of which may have already been consumed…”
