My Week In Pictures 20/17

My week in pictures

I love it when my week starts with sunshine and friends. This is just what happened last Sunday when I had lunch with my two besties Sarah and Chloe at The Pig at Combe. Our lunch date had been in the diary for months and it was so exciting that it had finally come around. We were celebrating our three birthdays. Sarah’s birthday is in April, mine is in May and Chloe’s is in June so we booked it somewhere in the middle! A triple birthday treat.

Once again the service was top notch. I really wouldn’t expect anything else now. I am always made to feel so welcome and special when I visit and this lunch date was no different. Daniel Gavriilidis, the head chef came out and said “hi” as well as treating us with the most deliciously fresh and zingy broth packed full of spring veggies and salmon. Luke Harbor, the sommelier, complimented the broth with the most delicious Riesling from a small producer, Domaine Henry Fuchs et Fils. What an absolute treat! My 5th visit, Chloe’s 2nd and Sarah’s 1st, I think Sarah has now caught the bug and wants to return as soon as she can.

The sun was shining and there was a warmth in the air and the new menu complimented this with fresh spring flavours. Spring lamb, locally caught fish and the freshest vegetables mostly grown and picked that morning from the beautiful walled kitchen garden. A chef and keen cooks dream.

We finished our meal with tea on the terrace in the glorious sunshine. A perfect way to spend time with true friends.

After a pretty stressful Monday morning I stopped by a friends house on my way home. Tea and cake administered in the sunshine. I can tell you I felt a whole lot better when I left!

I popped along to the newly refurbished City Gate on Thursday night for their official launch party. It was such fun. Delicious canapés created by the talented team headed up Jason Mead were served to compliment our drinks. This place is going to be a firm favourite over the summer months. Their beer garden is the bomb! Check out my recent blogpost for more photos and an insight into the refurbishment.

It’s my birthday this week and have a few little things planned in to celebrate. A picnic with friends, brunch at No1 Polsloe and plenty of birthday cake eating!! I also have an event or two that I am excited about. Keep your eyes peeled on Instagram and Twitter for up to the minute TBK news.
