My Week In Pictures 38/17

Fore Street Flea

Hasn’t the weather been hit and miss this week? Some days it has been bright and warm with others having torrential rain. I know now that autumn has taken hold and summer seems like a distant memory. I have been sorting out my wardrobe, packing away my summer clothes and rehanging my heavier garments. Scarves and tights have even made an appearance.

This helped me to decide to hire a spot at the Fore Street Flea. My friends and I decided we would pool our pre-loved items and create a pop up clothing boutique. If you fancy popping down to say “hello” then make your way over to Fore Street, Exeter between 12 noon and 4pm today (24th September ’17).

Alongside the rain dodging I have been creating goodies in the kitchen. These Beetroot and Feta tarts were a particular highlight. Check out the recipe here as they are well worth making.

At the beginning of the week I made my way to Bristol to catch up with my friend Alex for the day followed by Steve in the evening. Steve’s band The Pineapple Thief were playing the final night of their sellout European tour and was something I couldn’t miss.

Alex and I walked the length and breadth of Bristol taking in foodie stops on the way as well as a trip to St Werburghs City Farm. That was a highlight I have to say. I adore animals and the chance to pet some sheep and goats just made my day. Thank you Alex for taking me! Another highlight was the most delicious vegan roast dinner at The Cauldron. The Cauldron is the UK’s first solid fuelled kitchen in over 100 years. They burn Charcoal & Beech Logs in a bespoke kitchen to heat their cast iron cauldrons, victorian Swedish stove and wood fired oven.

All of their food is handmade from scratch and cooked over hot coals & wood fires. They source all of their ingredients locally too which adds to The Cauldron’s individuality. I would highly recommend a visit if you happen to be in St Werburghs, Bristol. You can even pop along to the city farm afterwards. It’s only a short walk away!

On Friday night Steve and I headed over to Meat 59 on Magdalen Road. A relatively new independently run and owned burger joint. We had an awesome time sampling many delights from the menu. A full review will follow but here are a few pictures to whet your appetite.

Well, there you have it. My Week In Pictures. It feels like it’s been a busy one. Next week my sister Estella pays a quick visit from Cayman. She moved out there a little over a year a go and I can’t wait to catch up over brunch on Wednesday. I also have a visit to Quicke’s Farm for their final cheese tour of the year on Friday which I am really looking forward to. I do love cheese!

Have a wonderful week everyone. I hope life treats you well. For more up to date insights into my week don’t forget to give me a follow on Instagram and Twitter.
