My Week In Pictures 50/16

My week in pictures

Half of my week was spent in the glorious Cornish town of St Ives. A three hour train journey from Exeter taking in some of the most picturesque coastline and “hey presto” you are in St Ives. I stayed i a cute little Air B&B apartment right ne t door to The Tate. A perfect location right in the heart of the town. A stones throw from the St Ives Bakery which was a complete joy for me. Fresh toasted sourdough with Cornish butter for breakfast anyone? Of course plenty of Cornish Tea was on hand as I am a tea drinker extraordinaire… Heaven!

I spent most of my time there looking in galleries, walking and of coarse sampling the local cafes and restaurants. We discovered the cutest little pub called the Pilchard Press that I would highly recommend if you want a great pint of local ale and conversation with the colourful locals. They don’t play music and they don’t serve food but it was the best pub in town as far as I am concerned.

Another highlight was the Rum and Crab Shack. The original restaurant (there is now one in Exeter) and set right on the harbour side with fantastic views. The crab was sublime and the service exceptional.

Here are a few names to throw into the mix if you make it down to St Ives. We had a great lunch at the Firehouse they do a great £6.00 lunch deal.Wonderful ginger cake and coffee at Scoff Troff Cafe and if you want lunch with a view try Porthminster Cafe.

I also spent a really good part of my week preparing for my first Tara’s Busy Kitchen collaboration with Cabinet Jewellery. I have been making bedazzled and dip dyed marshmallows alongside some delicious tropical date and coconut  truffles. These were to sell at the pop up alongside the wonderful British made jewellery.

The party itself took place on Thursday evening and was a real success. Approximately twenty guests came and enjoyed festive cocktails and homemade mince pies that were pimped up with Lyme Bay Winery cherry brandy liqueur. If I do say so myself they were pretty darn tasty. I think I consumed three or four over the course of the evening!

On Friday I made my way to Bath with Steve for a spot of Christmas shopping. We mooched around the famous Christmas market and independent boutiques picking up festive treats for friends and family.

Lunch was at the Green Rocket Cafe. An award winning vegetarian restaurant a stones throw from the main throng of the Christmas market. We met up with Sus from Rough Measures where we chatted about what each of us had been up to since our last get together. Delicious vegetarian morsels fuelling out discussions.

On recommendation from Sus we made our way over to the Bath Brew House before our train home. A bustling pub about a ten minute walk from the Abbey. Steve was in his element as he sampled a few of the ales brewed on the premises.

Next week I have my fourth Tara’s Busy Kitchen Presents event which takes slot of work and preparation but I love every minute of it. Keep an eye out on Instagram and twitter for more..

I also have a trip to Trill Farm planned, Christmas chocolate tasting at Chococo, dinner with my old friends where I will be cooking up a vegetarian mezze feast and drinks with a new foodie friend Alex. It’s going to be a jam packed week. There will also be lots of recipes coming your way as I share some Christmas entertaining recipes made with some delicious organic veggies from my friends at Shillingford Organics in conjunction with the Soil Associations #organicchristmas campaign.

Finally, I have been nominated in the UK Blog Awards so if you haven’t already voted and would like to then click here.

Take care everyone and have a fabulous week.

  1. Pilchard Press is one of my local haunts (I’m just up the road in Hayle). Always an interesting selection of beers in there. Bath Brew House sounds interesting – you should get Steve to blog about the beers!

    1. It was a great find… full of the local characters! It had a fabulous atmosphere both times we went in. St Ives is a lovely place and I hope to visit again. You are lucky to live in such a lovely area.
The Bath Brew House was a great find.. worth checking out if you are ever in Bath.
