This spicy new chilli pie, which promises to turn up the heat on taste buds, was inspired by a recent visit to Mexico by Chunk’s Chief Pie Maker – Richard, now known to one and all as Ricardo!
The new flavour-packed pie combines all the tantalising tastes of the Mexican cuisine in addition to a scrummy cheesy and tortilla topping. Ricardo’s Pie is in the shops now – available from a raft of major supermarkets, service stations and local stores.
Ricardo returned from his travels with a burning desire to add a little heat to the Chunk product line, and the team of Hunks from Chunk have come up trumps with the latest addition to their long list of delicious pies.
Steve and I popped a couple of Ricardos pies in the oven one evening to try them out… Being totally vegetarian and made with quorn I was able to have a little taste. They pack a punch with flavour. A chilli kick that is not for the faint hearted. Normally pies marked as spicy really aren’t so this was a pleasant surprise. A cheesey, crispy topping made with tortillas seemed a good choice. It reminded me of chilli topped nachos. Both in flavour and texture. If you love a plate of nachos then this pie will be right up your street.
