28th February 20211st March 2021 - tara Leave a comment

What a difference a week can make. The weather here in Devon has been dreamy and it well and truly feels like spring is around the corner. I have been noticing lighter mornings as well as lighter evenings. It is only a few more weeks until the clocks change and then the winter will feelRead more

Happy Sunday friends. Can you believe another week had gone by? It’s been half term for me from most of my ballet classes and normally I would have gone away somewhere but obviously not this year! Last year Steve and I went on a rather soggy break to Falmouth for a few days and discoveredRead more

Happy New Week! Firstly, let me apologise for not posting “My Week In Pictures” last week. Literally, nothing of note happened apart from my recipe for Rose & Chocolate Macaroons. I guess that’s going to be the case in a global pandemic. This week however I have done stuff! Yey! It’s all been in a CovidRead more

It’s been a funny old week here. Firstly, I have been on my own as Steve has been working away. Don’t panic! It’s all within the Covid laws – testing and a work bubble has been created. Professional musicians are allowed to rehearse which has meant that for the whole week I have been atRead more

Here we go again! Lockdown 3.0 started on Tuesday here in England. I did manage to get one evening in of live ballet classes with my primary-school-age children before resuming online from Tuesday which was lovely. A chance to reconnect with the children albeit briefly. Obviously, with lockdown 3.0 I haven’t been out and aboutRead more

My Nine Best Things Of 2020

30th December 202030th December 2020 - tara Leave a comment

2020 has been challenging for all. Work has been sparse for some and non-existent for others. Loneliness for many has become a real issue. There have been constant challenges thrown our way that has meant we have had to adapt and adopt new ways of thinking, working, socialising and exercising. For me, 2020 has givenRead more

For me, this week has been made up of two contrasting halves. I am pretty sure that for others based in England right now you may agree with me? Lockdown 2.0 started at 12.01 am on Thursday morning with many restrictions in place that we haven’t seen since the easing of the first lockdown inRead more

It must have been about 2 years since my last Week In Pictures post. To be sure I would have to look back through my archives. Why this week of all weeks? Well, in all honesty, there is no particular reason apart from having a little more time than normal. It’s half term here inRead more

A Birthday in Lockdown

27th May 202027th May 2020 - tara Leave a comment

What a day. It was filled with emotion and joy. I can only liken it to how I must have felt as a small child. By the evening I was pretty much wiped out from feeling completely overwhelmed. All the messages, cards, phone calls, zoom chats and even socially distant curbside cake eating were amazingRead more

This sunny Saturday deserves celebrating with my N This sunny Saturday deserves celebrating with my No Churn Ice Cream Sandwiches. A delightfully retro looking sweet treat that will fill your heart with glee and your tummy with deliciousness. I mean, what’s not to love? It’s basically whipped double cream and condensed milk in between two biscuits! Grab yourselves the few ingredients in your next shop and get making. 💕

(AD) It’s five o clock somewhere right? Oh wait. (AD) It’s five o clock somewhere right? Oh wait.. this little aperativo is alcohol free so no worries there. @motherrootldn is a sophisticated, award winning, 100% natural and alcohol-free switchel. The recipe is based on a prohibition-era recipe but vamped up with a modern twist. I am currently hooked on Mother Root with pomegranate juice and lots of ice. Put that alongside a bowl of salt and vinegar and you’ve got yourself an awesome pre-dinner cocktail situation without the fuzzy head. That can come later! 😉
“We’re having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave”.. I can’t remember the other lyrics and by heatwave I mean it’s above 10 degrees! But, aforementioned heatwave requires ice cream sandwiches. Am I right? How do you fancy the recipe for no churn amaretti and raspberry ice cream sandwiches? Let me know! 💕
With dining in being the only option right now I d With dining in being the only option right now I decided to treat myself to some exquisite new table linen from @angela.mugnai.emporium - I have been coveting her designs for a couple of months now but was a bit slow off the mark before Christmas so missed out on ordering. I was thrilled to see in her new collection these delightful soft pink candy stripes. So, completely me. I love everything about them. The size, the weight.. in all honesty they are simply perfect. Roll on the weekend so I can maximise their usage. They came beautifully wrapped as you can see from my little video complete with some delicious heart shaped Italian chocolates. The fabrics used come from a fourth generation Italian family business that has been operating since 1919. Angela hand picks the most glorious designs for her collection and I have to say that if I was in the position to purchase every design I would. So, if you fancy taking your meal times up a notch whilst your favourite restaurants and bars are closed maybe take a browse of her latest ever growing collection. (Not an ad - I am just a fangirl)💗

So thankful for my beautiful umbrella on days like So thankful for my beautiful umbrella on days like this. The most perfect design by @jasminedowling for @bluntumbrellas 💛 In fact ever since I received it as a Christmas gift from my sister I have kind of been willing it to rain enough to warrant an outing. Well, today it’s raining enough so out it came. Isn’t it dreamy? 💛
AD - What do you do if you fancy an aperitif becau AD - What do you do if you fancy an aperitif because the sun is finally shining but it’s a “school” night? You reach for something that is going to give you that delightfully bitter hit but without the fuzzy head in the morning. I have to teach a stretch class at 8am tomorrow morning but fancy celebrating the fact that it’s half term and I don’t have to teach the kiddie-winks until 9pm on Zoom tonight. Ordinarily I would be in Cornwall in Feb half term but you know what, this year is not the norm. 🤷🏻‍♀️ That doesn’t change the fact they I still want to feel like I am on a bit of a holiday. That means that at 6pm I fancy a little pre dinner drinkie. I have recently discovered @motherrootldn ; a 100% natural, bold flavoured, alcohol-free aperitif described by one of my faves @ottolenghi as “beautiful”. Made with ginger juice, blossom honey, organic apple cider vinegar & a smidge of chilli it packs a flavour punch when mixed with soda or tonic, a round of citrus and a sprig of rosemary. It can also be revved up my mixing it into a Campari based cocktail or adding to a hot toddy on colder evenings. It’s super versatile and my bottle will be finished by the end of the week as I sample Mother Root in all its incarnations. Head on over to @motherrootldn for cocktail & mocktail recipes that will tickle your tastebuds.🍹
