Coronation Crown Egg-In-A-Basket

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 piece of bread
  • A knob of butter
  • Salt & pepper

Instructions

  • 1Heat a frying pan or griddle whilst preparing your bread. Cut a square hole out of the centre of your bread and create a zig-zag pattern by cutting along one side of the bread to represent the crown.
  • Spread the butter onto the hot pan or griddle and place your bread on to start the cooking process. This will be the top later on. Don’t forget to cook the discarded centre square too. It’s extra fried bread!!
  • Once golden, flip the bread and crack your egg in the hole and season with salt and pepper. Cook until your egg is how you like it. If you like well done eggs, flip again.
