Brew Food Fest, Taunton

Calling all foodies! The Brew Food Festival the first EVER Food Festival in Taunton launches at The Brew
house Theatre Oct 8th and 9th.

From the nutritional and healthy to the indulgent naughty but nice, there is something for everyone at the first ever food festival in Taunton being held at The Brewhouse Theatre Oct 8th and 9th. The Brew Food Festival will be celebrating all the fabulously diverse produce that the South West has to offer, irrespective of whether you are a stick-to-what-you know type or a culinary adventurist.

The festival will be split into portions; Outside the theatre and also utilising Somerset Square there will be a Street Food Zone where locals will be able to munch their way around the world such is the variety of the food- to- go on offer.

The Cookery Theatre in the auditorium is where SW Chef of the Year 2013 Steve Ashworth will host live cookery demonstrations from well known local chefs including, Liam Finnegan The Castle Hotel, Taunton, Olly Jackson, The Langford Fivehead, Olivier Certain, Clavelshay Barn, Brett Sutton The White Post and Richard Guest, Augustus. Afterwards there will be tasting sessions followed by a Q & A where Chefs will answer any culinary dilemma.

The Food Market both inside and outside The Brewhouse is where visitors can not only sample South West produce such as gin, wine, cheese, chocolate, meat, breads, vegetables, pies, sauces and pickles but watch individual stall holders hosting their own mini demos including Hamhill Cider who are providing an apple press for the day. So please bring your apples and watch them being made into your very own delicious glass of juice.

The beauty of food and drink is there is something for the whole family and children are ably catered for with the award winning “Fun Kitchen”. They will be hosting workshops where children can enjoy making and learning about food in a safe and entertaining environment, exploring tastes and creating fantastic food. There will also be a Children’s Activities Tent where they can get down and dirty with homemade vegetable paints and have their faces painted by the award winning Suzy Marsh.

In the Band Stand visitors can enjoy various musicians playing throughout the day including Skintight Samba, whilst sipping on a local drink of their choice. Other entertainment comes in the form of George Egg: Anarchist Cook who will be performing his cocktail of stand-up comedy, striking innovation and extreme multi-tasking in the main theatre auditorium on Saturday 9th Oct at 7.30pm.

When you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main Festival visitors will be able to relax and enjoy afternoon tea in Mr Miles Tea room with the option of a glass of fizz or cocktail if preferred!

To launch the festival a Pop Up event incorporating 12 suppliers from The Orchard Shopping Centre and The Brew Food Festival is being held at The Orchard Shopping Centre in Taunton Sat 10th and Sun 11th September. This will give visitors the opportunity to experience a taster for the main event and is also supporting local charity Taunton Food Bank.
