My Week In Pictures

My week in pictures

Happy Sunday all. I have been extremely busy with work in the lead up to the Royal Academy of Dance exams that my dance school holds every term.  Extra coaching classes and private lessons have meant I haven’t stopped this week. I have however managed to fit in a little foodie fun here and there which makes me very happy indeed. All work and no play makes Tara a dull girl as the saying goes!

On Sunday, Steve and I headed over to Topsham to our friend’s house. Nick and Harry had invited us over for the afternoon. A lazy late lunch accompanied by Manzanilla and Pedro Ximenez sherries in homage to International Sherry Week. We tried to keep our food offerings in touch with the Spanish vibe too with homemade flatbreads, anchovy and garlic toasts, Spanish olives and Manchego cheese. We chatted and nibbled our way through the best part of the sunny but cold afternoon in their kitchen before retiring to the candlelit lounge once the early onset of darkness came upon us. Out came the desserts. Harry had outdone herself with a delicious brown sugar tart dusted with cocoa and a dulce de leche and banana meringue roulade topped with toasted nuts and coconut. Helping ourselves we sat back, listened to music and cracked open the Pedro Ximinez. A rich and dark sherry that is thick and sweet. Absolutely delicious but a little much for me alongside the rich desserts. I am definitely more of a dry sherry girl. The Manzanilla that we had quaffed earlier was much more to my taste and delicious with the salty anchovy toasts.

On Tuesday I caught up, all be it briefly with my friend Natalie for tea and cake at one of my favourite coffee shops in Exeter. The Exploding Bakery bakes the most wonderful cakes, sourdough bread and makes super easy lunches to have in or take away. This place is always buzzing with students from the college over the road, office workers and coffee connoisseurs alike. I am a sucker for their chocolate and banana loaf but branched out on Monday. The sour cherry and pistachio slice was dreamy.

I have been doing some recipe testing this week with The Chia Co chia seeds, Shaken Udder Milkshakes and Tiggs sauces. Watch this space for recipes soon.

Don’t forget that if you have any stuffing left this Sunday from your roast then give my latest recipe ‘Stuffing Baked Eggs’ a try. It’s ever so simple to make and eliminates any waste by using up those leftovers! Click here for the recipe.

Well, there you have it. A little insight into my week through pictures. Next week look out for a few delicious recipes. I have been busy creating lots of lovely dishes for you all. On the social side, Steve and I plan a trip to the Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market. I wonder if I will sample my first mulled wine of the season? I have two days of Royal Academy of Dance exams to fit in around birthday celebrations with my chum Johanna, wine tasting with Viki and a coffee date with Chantelle. It’s going to be busy, busy but that’s just how I like it.

Keep up to date with my daily adventures through Instagram and Twitter too! Enjoy your week everyone!
