My Week In Pictures 24/16

My week in pictures

It’s been a pretty quiet week here at Tara’s Busy Kitchen HQ. I have been tying up lots of loose ends and finishing posts. This isn’t to say I haven’t squeezed in a few foodie delights. I managed to get myself down to the farmers market. I hadn’t been in weeks what with various trips away, my dance show and other commitments. It felt great to get back into the old routine of my Thursday morning trip to The Almond Thief for their gorgeous sourdough bread and Shillingford Organics for some fresh organic veggies. The sun was shining so it was the perfect time to stock up on goodies.  I had a couple of friends coming for supper that night so I wanted to stock up on yummy veg to create a veggie feast at Tara’s Busy Kitchen HQ.

From the market Steve and I popped along to the cathedral green to visit one of my favourite little cafes. The Plant is a vegetarian cafe that sells the most wonderful sandwiches, salads, quiches, cakes and cookies. When the weather is great you can sit outside overlooking the beautiful cathedral and enjoy your yummy goodies in the sunshine.

Like I said earlier, Jemma and Cat visited on Thursday evening for supper. We try our utmost to get together every month although sometimes it proves difficult. We were missing our friend Rebecca due work commitments but she was there with us in spirit. I had been given Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstalls’ cook book Light And Easy for my birthday and it was the first time I had cooked from it. My recipe of choice was roasted aubergines with sweet and sour tomatoes. I have to confess it tasted rather good. Especially with the light, fresh salad I had made. Along with a selection of Emma’s Bread spelt loaf  and Almond Thief sourdough with some slightly salted Quicke’s butter. For dessert I made a spiced apple crumble and served it with my favourite creamy natural yoghurt from Ashclyst Dairy. Delicious!

I am off to Winchester this weekend for my Aunt’s 70th birthday celebrations. We have numerous foodie things lined up which I will share with you in my posts next week.

I also have a visit to Emma’s Bread in the pipeline to watch the bakers work their magic. I am so excited about that..

Have a great week everybody!
