Villa d’Este. A visit to Tivoli.

I wanted to share with you some photographs of my visit to the Villa d’Este in Tivoli. It is included in the UNESCO world heritage list and for good reason. There is fountain after fountain.. Each one trying to out do the last in a spectacular display. Grottos housing statues of Roman gods and the like.. It is one wonderful sight after another. I really fell in love with place.

If you are lucky enough to get this part of Italy I would highly recommend a visit to the Villa. Tivoli itself I wasn’t that keen on. It’s pretty enough in places but far too busy and crowded for my liking. I would also like to point out that if you go by car it is difficult to navigate around the city and parking is pretty hard to find. Once we did eventually find a space it was very cheap. €1.00 per hour. You only really need a couple of hours to view the gardens and the house so pretty good value I thought.

Entrance to the villa and gardens cost €8.00 for adults and children were half price.

Now for the pictures. I hope you manage to appreciate the magnificence and splendour of the place from them. A photographer I am not so fingers crossed they do the place justice!

I hope you enjoyed perusing the photographs. I really is a special place and if you are ever near Rome I urge you to make a slight detour in your journey!
