My Week In Pictures 15/16

Saturday night my two “besties” Sarah and Chloe came over for supper. We get together once a month for a good catch up on each others news over some food. I had made a salad with petits pois, artichokes and walnuts to go alongside some delicious sourdough from The Almond Thief bakery. Sarah had brought some olives with feta cheese and plus crab pate with some crisp breads. Chloe was once again was in charge of cheese. She had chosen three. Sharpham Brie, Cornish garlic Yarg and a creamy blue French cheese that she couldn’t remember the name of! For pudding we had a slice of warmed apple cake made by Romas Glodenis at Romas Desserts and Cakes based in Crediton. Everything went down a treat as we chatted, laughed and giggled our way through the evening. We always have such a great time. A perfect Saturday night!

Whilst at the Cullompton Springfest we stopped off for a cup of tea at The Bakehouse. A cute little cafe on the high street opposite the market. Vintage furniture and mismatched crockery plus a fabulous selection of cakes on offer. A great find in a small town.

I was asked by Cotton Traders to create a recipe using herbs to promote the launch of their guide on How To Grow Herbs At Home. I decided that I would use parsley as my herb of choice and that Tabbouleh would be my recipe. It instantly sprang to mind as a great recipe for using herbs. Plus, it’s a perfect recipe for this time of year. It’s light, fresh and a good accompaniment for chargrilled halloumi, fish or meat.

On Thursday I had a few chores to do in relationship to my Tara’s Busy Kitchen event happening today (if you are reading this on Sunday!). A visit to the farmers market for my flowers and a trip to Cakeadoodledo for the important task of sprinkle choice for my goodie bag cupcakes! If it hadn’t had been 10am I would have tucked into a slice of this jammie dodger sponge cake! How good does that look?

From Cakeadoodledo it was time to meet my chum Emma for a long overdue tea date. We decided that we would walk down to the Quay and visit The Ridge Cafe. One of the newest cafes in town situated by Clip and climb on Exeter’s Quayside. We both ordered tea and took a seat in the window. We chatted about everything from my holiday, to work, planning future tea dates and everything inbetween!

It’s been a relatively quiet week this week apart from my event but more planned for next week. I can’t wait to share some pictures with you and look out for some delicious recipes too!
