My Week In Pictures 12/17

The Pig at Combe

I hosted a little event on Sunday morning for a few friends. “Spring Fling” gave my chums the opportunity to bring their pre-loved clothing together to swap/trade or sell. Of course you can’t have an event without nibbles so I prepared a spring greens and feta cheese frittata. I was also lucky enough to have had a selection of cupcakes made by the wonderful Cakeadoodledo. Tea and coffee was on tap (obviously, that goes without saying!) alongside elderflower cordial for those who wanted a non caffeinated option. I must give my friend Emma a shoutout for brainstorming the idea with me and for all her help too. “Thanks Em”.

Once my guests had dispersed and the tidying up was complete I headed out for a much needed breath of fresh air. I made my way up to the University of Exeter grounds to stretch my legs. I love exploring the wooded areas up there and watching the changing seasons. For me, on this walk I really began to notice the approach of spring with many plants beginning to flower.

I’ve been very lucky this week and had a number of delicious goodies sent to me to try and sample. Watch this space to see recipes and reviews pop up over the coming weeks.

These Mr Lee’s noodle pots were sent to me to try. Containing no nasties, they are a great way of having something filling and good for you on the go. They are low in salt, low in sugar, low in saturated fat and low in calories. Great for a dancer like me. I spend a lot of time out of the house and having something in my bag that I can prepare in minutes that I don’t feel guilty eating is a godsend. Particularly on my long Saturday sessions!

I received the most delicious cheddar and golden yolked eggs from The Black Farmer. I have created a delicious cheddar and roasted beet salad that will be up on the blog soon. I enjoyed the simplicity of the eggs and cheese in their purist forms too!

Coffee from Spiller and Tate was so fresh that it’s aroma filled my whole house. I am still working on recipes and ideas using this wonderful coffee so keep your eyes peeled for more over the next few weeks or so. Of course I’ve been enjoying a coffee every morning to help me prepare for the day.

Henny and Joe’s sent me some fabulous chocolate chai syrup that I’ve been thrilled to work with. I can’t wait to share my thoughts with you.

Thursday was a particularly special day as Steve and I had a lunch date at my favourite destination; The PIG at Combe. We were spoilt from the moment we arrived with exceptional service and wonderful food all conjured up by the amazing chef Daniel Gavriilidis. He even popped out to say “hello” with a couple of off menu starters for us to sample! I was in seventh heaven when I was presented with a dish of baby octopus and squid cooked to perfection.Dressed simply with a seasoned oil and mini capers. Daniel couldn’t have picked a more apt dish for me and I can’t thank him enough for taking time out of his busy lunch service to come and say “hello”.

I already have my next booking made! That is how good I think The PIG at Combe is and I would highly recommend it to everyone I meet! For a full review of a previous visit click here.

I met up up with someone I have been following on Instagram for a while now. The lovely Nia is an incredible artist who has a passion for cats just like me. In fact at the end of last year I pledged some money to one of her kickstarter projects and in return got a box load of her cat related goodies including a custom print of one of my four cats Archie! Nia was so taken with Archie’s expression that she made a wonderful squishy cushion that I was desperate to see in the flesh. So I invited her over for tea and homemade jam tarts. We got on like a house on fire and she got to meet her muse, Archie! Check out Nia’s website for more of her wonderful creations. She really is a talent!

I have a busy week ahead. A Sunday lunch date with Steve at The Anchor at Cockwood. One fashion event at Reiss in Princesshay and another at Lorna Ruby. I’m popping my head in at Berloni on Tuesday for a coffee and a look at the newest kitchen shop on the block. On top of all that I have a little afternoon out with my friend Carmen. I hope I haven’t missed anything out!

Have a great week everyone!
