Lorna Ruby – Exeter

Lorna Ruby, Exeter

One of my favourite boutiques in Exeter is Lorna Ruby. Nestled in behind House of Fraser on Catherine Street and a stones throw from the cities beautiful cathedral. It has a perfect central location.

From the moment the shop opened its doors almost 5 years ago I have been a regular visitor. Admiring the beautiful fashion lines so wonderfully curated by Lorna’s as well as the inspiring lifestyle side of the business. It’s a shop you can get lost in. I often say to my other half that I am off to Lorna Ruby and disappear for an hour or so returning back home with a bag in hand! It’s not only the amazing clothing on offer that keeps me there but it’s the staff that ease you through the shopping experience. I have made friends through visiting the store and rekindled friendships with long lost friends at Lorna Ruby’s regular events. It’s a happy shop with a great vibe that invites you to stay and browse.

What Lorna Has To say….

Working alongside my husband Rupert, as a fashion agent, we spent our time on the road travelling through some of Europe’s most diverse destinations. Inspired by the dynamic movement of design and fashion we began to lovingly create our brand Lorna Ruby, a space where lifestyle beliefs and personal style can co-exist.

Almost 5 years later our company continues to evolve and grow, with the support of customers who value both our directional and timeless collection and our dedication to bringing you both established and cutting-edge brands.

We travel all over Europe and Scandinavia, London, Copenhagen and Paris, in order to source pieces you will love now and for a long time to come. Our curational buying brings together pieces of the finest quality and design with emphasis on sustainability, style and above all effortless wearability.

We have carefully curated our fashion and lifestyle concept store, unique in its brand identity, its culture and its level of service, as a space to find the best selection of goods.

Back to my visit..

I wanted to showcase what Lorna Ruby has on offer this season. Between us, we carefully selected some of the many beautiful pieces and created five key looks for Spring and beyond.

Look #1

Taking me completely out of my comfort zone with this beautiful free-flowing leopard print dress, Lorna and Gemma cinched me in at the waist with a classic plaited belt. Instantly giving this beautiful ensemble a more casual feel which in turn made me feel more at home wearing it. I loved the way it moved as I moved. It had a fabulous flow that made the garment feel really special on. It would be equally beautiful in the day with a pair of sandals as it could be taken into the evening with a pair of heels (or clogs for me!).

Just Female leopard dress: £135

Nude Plaited Belt: £22

Look #2

This outfit had my name all over it. A simple attire with an equally simple colour palate. I totally fell in love with the culotte pants and know that they would be a staple in my wardrobe which is a massive shout out as I am a jeans girl all the way generally!

Suncoo Culotte Pants: £105.00

Crossley Pink Tee: £42.00

Designers Society Jacket: £145.00

Shoe The Bear block heel: £79.00

Look #3

This next look had me transported to the 1950’s and movies like Roman Holiday. I am not proclaiming to be anything like Audrey Hepburn but I certainly felt like a movie star on set! The jeans were dreamy to wear with a good amount of stretch. I would definitely recommend.

Just Female Palm Wrap Top: £78.00

Joe’s Jean Grey Skinny Jean: £189.00

Shoe The Bear Block Heel: £79.00

Basket Bag: £32.00

Look #4

This jacket and I were destined to be together! The perfect little throw over that could be worn casually with jeans or over a dress for the evening. Being a ballet teacher I always buy clothes which have multiple uses. I would be equally happy throwing this on after class as I would be sashaying the bars, pubs and restaurants of Exeter and beyond.

My Sunday Morning Leopard Jacket: £259.95

Joe’s Jeans Mud Rise Icon Jean: £189.00

Just Dagmar Knit: £135.00

Look #5

The colour palette here is me, me, ME. I just love the simplicity of this outfit. From the neutral gathered trousers to the softest knit in the softest hue. LOVE. The perfect look for spring.

Just Dagmar Knit: £135.00

10 Feet Trousers: £110.00

Neuville Suede Bag: £89.00

Shoe The Bear Block Heel: £79.00

As you can see from the fantastic images by Angel Wade, there is so much on offer at Lorna Ruby. Not only can you transport yourself to movies of old trying on, you can buy delicate homewares that would instantly uplift your home. I love the fact that Lorna Ruby can offer that. If your budget doesn’t stretch to that dream jacket you can always walk away with something dreamy for your house.

Or some exquisitely made jewellery or accessories.

You can find Lorna Ruby online here or pop along to 17, Catherine Street, Exeter, EX1 1EU. Trust me, you won’t regret the visit.
