My Week In Pictures 17/17

We lit our first barbecue of the year on Saturday night. The sun was shining but goodness it was chilly. In true British spirit we sat out regardless. My friend Alex joined Steve and myself to celebrate the long Easter weekend. Lots of veggies, mackerel and dips were eaten alongside homemade blackberry vodka. It was a great night.

Steve, Serena and Tim all joined in with my Easter celebrations at Tara’s Busy Kitchen HQ. I made pancakes, but not just ordinary pancakes. These were “Wake Me Up” pancakes. Made with Spiller And Tait coffee and served with a coffee syrup and mascarpone cheese. They were a bit like a deconstructed tiramisu. Tim came laden with strawberries and raspberries (no chocolate eggs in site!) so I served these alongside. On top of that I had purchased some hot cross buns from Emma’s Bread so they were toasted and served with delicious Claires Preserves. It was a feast and a half with plenty of tea and coffee flowing as always.

My friend Amber popped over on Tuesday. We had tea and cake….I realised when serving that everything was tea based. My delicious Matcha tea cake and some Earl Grey shortbread biscuits that my lovely friend Alex had made for me. I served the two tea based sweet treats alongside some Devonshire Tea of course!

I had two events to attend on Thursday. The first being at Debenhams in Princesshay, Exeter to support a very worthwhile charity. Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) is the only international cancer support charity, providing practical and very effective free services for women and teenagers struggling with the visible side effects of cancer treatment. LGFB is dedicated to improving the wellbeing and self-confidence of people undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. Many beneficiaries tell us that LGFB helped them regain a sense of control and normality at a time when diagnosis and treatment had taken over their lives. I popped in to give my support and have a little pamper of my own. Thank you to Emily on the BareMinerals counter for spending a little bit of time with me. I now have a shopping list as long as my arm!

Following on from this I made my way to The Rougemont Hotel for a re-launch party. The Rougemont hotel has recently undergone a little bit of a change. The bedrooms have all had a face lift and it was our opportunity to have a little nose around and enjoy the ambience in this traditional city centre hotel. Plenty of canapés and a well stocked bar alongside soulful jazz created a wonderful event. I am excited to return to try out more of the facilities. Excuse the purple glow in the photos. The ambient lighting took over!

On Friday Steve and I met up with our friends Nick and Harry for a little road trip to Witheridge, the new home of La Petite Bouchée. A supper club dining experience able to seat 20 people in the dining room and four in the wonderful vintage Citroen HY Van. Initially they will be open on Friday and Saturday evenings each week. I can’t wait to see what the new menu will look like! Opening its doors to the public on the 5th May there is a long waiting list for tables so if it looks up your street then make your booking via email now.

So, that was “My Week In Pictures”. I have had a great week. It’s back to teaching next week though so I guess things might quieten down….? Well, maybe! I have a day of filming for In Exeter to promote the area around the cathedral which I am so excited about. My sister Estella and her boyfriend Gordon are visiting from Cayman so I am sure plenty of yummy food and drinks will be consumed. If the weather holds (fingers crossed) I hope to barbecue again.

Don’t forget you can keep up to date with my day to day activities on Instagram and Twitter! Have a fabulous week everyone.
