Happy Sunday everybody! I hope you are all well? I wanted to share the easiest homemade bread recipe you will ever make with top not satisfaction guaranteed. I think in the past two weeks I have made this recipe at least 4 times and because of that, I felt the need to share with you all.
I have to say that I am drawn to recipes with very few ingredients. Partly because I like to cook off the cuff and don’t want to worry that I haven’t got the ingredients in my cupboards, fridge or pantry and partly because I am scared of long ingredient lists. To me, that sparks difficulty quite often. I like to take pleasure from my cooking and baking experiences, so this 3 ingredient-simple recipe is perfect for someone like me.
It’s quick to come together, requires one bowl and a baking sheet for equipment and the outcome from the 3 ingredients is really gratifying.
Make this bread at the weekend and serve it for breakfast with your friends and family. It’s great with organic smoked bacon and eggs as well as served warm or toasted with organic salted butter and Seville orange marmalade.
To be honest the world is your oyster. It’s great served alongside salads and soups or just with a thick smear of butter. Delicious!

Easy Recipe - 3 Ingredient Soda Bread
Ingredients
- 450 g wholemeal plain flour use white if you prefer
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 350 ml buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 230C / Gas 8. Dust a baking tray with a little flour.
- Sift your wholemeal flour and bicarbonate of soda together in a large bowl. Mix in about 250ml of the buttermilk and begin to form the dough. If it’s too dry add more buttermilk until the dough comes together. It should be soft and light in texture and not sticky.
- Turn your dough out onto a floured work surface. With clean hands form the dough into a ball and flatten it slightly.
- Move dough to your floured baking sheet. Cut a deep cross in the top of your dough and stab each quarter to allow steam to escape.
- Bake the bread in your preheated oven for 15 minutes. Turn down the oven to 200C and bake for a further 15-20 minutes. Finally turn the bread over and bake upside down for another 15 minutes. It should sound hollow when you tap the bottom and then you know it is done. It is best eaten on the day it’s made but if that doesn’t happen it’s great for toast.
Disclaimer – I was kindly sent some ingredients by Eversfield Organic to create this recipe for them. As always I only work with brands I know and trust so I am happy to recommend them to you. I was not paid to write this post and all thoughts are my own.
