My Week In Picture Lockdown 3.0 Week 7

A Day in the Life

What a difference a week can make. The weather here in Devon has been dreamy and it well and truly feels like spring is around the corner. I have been noticing lighter mornings as well as lighter evenings. It is only a few more weeks until the clocks change and then the winter will feel like it is well behind us. I don’t want to wish time away but I do long for warmer days and lighter evenings.

New Website – My Ballet Fit

Some of you know that I am a Royal Academy of Dance trained and registered ballet teacher and others will not. Yes, there is more to me than food and recipes.

Whilst I enjoy writing and editing my blog, Tara’s Busy Kitchen it isn’t a paid job. The blog is a hobby that I do alongside my teaching. Well, this week my little business took a step up and my website was born. My Ballet Fit is now live. It turns out that the website launch coincided with My Ballet Fit’s second birthday. In all the strangeness of my current work situation I had overlooked that. I will have to celebrate at a later date.

Steve worked hard for two days straight only stopping for meals to get it up and running for March bookings. I am so pleased with the results and user feedback has been positive. If you fancy taking a look or even maybe booking a class (it’s not all classical ballet so don’t worry if you do or don’t have dance experience) then check it out here. I would love to welcome you to one of my ballet fitness, stretch or adult ballet classes. We are a friendly bunch so don’t hold back.

No Churn Ice Cream Sandwiches

This recipe seemed fitting this week as the weather changed for the better although in all honesty I eat ice cream all year around, not just in the summer months. This no churn ice cream recipe is so easy and the pretty biscuit surround adds a hint of kitsch that seems fitting for an ice cream sandwich.

For the simple recipe click here. All you need is a packet of jam and cream sandwich biscuits, some double cream, condensed milk and a drop of vanilla. They are delicious and perfect for a birthday tea party, afternoon tea with a twist or dessert.

Mother Root & Pomegranate Cocktail

Last week I told you about Mother Root. An all natural alcohol-free switchel based on a prohibition recipe. Well, this drink spiced with ginger is my new favourite and I am loving it mixed with pomegranate juice and lots of ice. I highly recommend Mother Root as a base for many non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktails or even as a hot toddy on a cold night. If you sign up to their mailing list you can get 10% off your order.

Being Outdoors

With the weather seeing a remarkable upturn this week it’s been blissful being outside. The sound of the birds in the trees and the blue skies have really lifted my mood. The mimosa trees in my street bringing me much joy on my daily walks out. I met my friend Emma for a spot of exercise and a hot chocolate in the week which was lovely. It’s so nice to have face to face contact with someone out of my household. It brings a bit of normality to the week despite no hugging, keeping our distance etc.

WW2 Bomb Blast

To my utmost surprise an unexploded WW2 bomb was discovered a mere 5 minute walk from my house on Friday. Many houses were evacuated but thankfully our house was just outside the police cordon. Our road was closed to traffic for the whole of Friday and Saturday whilst the emergency services went to work. The bomb was detonated last night at about 6.20pm and the windows and doors of our house rattled with the blast. I can categorically say that this Saturday night was the most exciting Saturday night in a whole year!

Next Week

Who knows at this point what next week holds. I do know that the weather is supposed to remain fine for a few more days which brings me great joy. It is my youngest cat Dustin’s birthday next Friday so expect some birthday festivities and a cake. I look forward to sharing that with you. Any excuse for a party right now!
